Removing ESL and operating hours

So I downloaded a combine mod, unfortunatly it has ESL and operating hours already installed and I would like to know how to remove them without borking up the mod completely..

I've made a couple attempts myself but ingame it ends up telling me I cannot buy the machine because it doesn't have space.. when I undo my changes I can buy it just fine so I figure 'not enough space' is the games way of saying 'I don't understand this mod' or 'parts of this mod are missing' aka, ERROR

what exactly do I need to remove in order to remove ESL and operating hours?

I can't find any references to ESL or operating hours in either XML file.. is there another file I need to look at?

Which XML files are you looking at? In the modDesc.xml, there is a <specialization> tag. Comment it out by enclosing it:

<!-- <specialization>...</specialization> -->
