Want to beta test a new realism mod for PC?

Post by BazTheHat »

Hi all,

I've been making a new mod for PC only about returning vehicles. I always thought it was odd that you could borrow vehicles for a contract or lease them from the shop and they'd be happy for you to dump them in a field once you've done.

My mod changes that. Now, you must return your vehicles to the shop before it will allow you to complete the contract or return the leased vehicle.

I'm looking for beta testers to download the mod and give it a go, then report any bugs you find (either by replying here or private message me). Anyone can give it a go, but I'm especially interested in anyone willing to test it in multiplayer as I think I've got the code right for it, but I don't have the means to test it in MP.

Anyway, if you're interested, here's what to do:
  1. Download the zip file here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Artr_I1BTbffg9hbkxV ... g?e=pwIDIY
  2. Copy it into your mods folder (by default, this should be Documents/My Games/FarmingSimulator22/mods)
  3. Load a game and make sure Bring It Back is selected as a mod to use.
That's it! You should find now that when you finish a contract for someone, it will say 100% complete but you cannot collect payment until you've returned ALL items you borrowed for that specific contract. You can, of course, hire AI to return them for you. Also, any leased items will have the Return button disabled if the item is too far away.

Known issues: The added text in contracts to remind you to return borrowed items is in English only right now. I will add localisations later.

Things I'm interested to know:
  • Does it work?
  • Are there any issues?
  • Is the distance for returning too close or far away on your map?
If you find any problems, please check the log.txt file found in Documents/My Games/FarmingSimulator22 or simply send me a copy of the text file to check for you. If you spot any errors, let me know.

Thank you!

Hello,

I am interested in testing, but I do not have a mods folder in either FS19 or FS22. Would these be hidden within a subfolder?

For anyone testing this, please be aware that I've updated the link above to fix a bug which crashes the game if there are zero contracts available, so please download the new version if you're testing it.

Thanks!

As long as you're on a PC, you should have a folder in Documents/My Games/FarmingSimulator22/mods. This is not the main game folder, it's just in your documents folder. Any and all mods you have installed (eg from the Downloadable Content section from the game) will be in that folder.

Have you tried this with the Better Contracts mod?

No, it does not work with Better Contracts. As soon as I got into a contract vehicle the game basically froze. Couldn't drive, couldn't get out of the vehicle, couldn't tab to a different vehicle. Removed your mod and everything back to normal. Playing SP.

I've checked at my end and Better Contracts doens't seem to have a problem with it.

Have you tried using my mod without Better Contracts, to confirm that it is the conflicting mod?

Can you confirm you are using the latest version of my mod (0.0.2.1)? There was a crashing error with 0.0.2.0 if no contracts were available.

If it crashes again on you, can you check the log.txt file found in Documents/My Games/FarmingSimulator22/ and find anything that starts with Error (you can use CTRL+F to find error) and let me know what it says?

Hi rice purity test,
I'd be happy to help beta-test your mod. I'll download it and give it a try in both single-player and multiplayer modes. I'll make sure to report any bugs or issues I encounter. Thanks for the opportunity to test it out!
