I am asking on behalf of my niece, as she said she wanted to update her CV using wordpad. but now its showing all this below how can she fix it. she was on windows 8 but now gone over to windows 10. would that have caused it

Are you sure that the font type is not switched?
Maybe change the font type to something else.

As a recommendation:
WordPad is not really a nice text editor as it only has limited capability

If you want to invest the money, get Microsoft Office. If not try LibreOffice. Part of that package is Writer, which has way more functionality.
